Susan Lynn Kruithoff-Nye, 65, of Plymouth, peacefully passed away on February 3, 2022 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. She was the devoted wife of Sherwood Clinton Nye.
Susan was born in Quincy, MA on September 17, 1956. She was the beloved daughter of the late Donald Eugene and Elizabeth Ann (DeLappe) Kruithoff. She was a graduate of Hingham High School class of 1975, as well as Eastern Nazarene College class of 1977. For most of Susan’s career she worked as an Insurance Agent for the family business at D.K. Insurance in Randolph, MA.
Susan had many interests and hobbies. Her two favorite hobbies included travel, especially going on cruises with her husband, Sherwood, cooking and baking. Without a doubt, Susan’s family and friends will miss her scrumptious creations! She was a nature lover and embraced her surroundings, be it bird watching in her secluded, forested backyard, gardening, or soaking up the sunshine at the beach. She was an avid reader and loved relaxing with her dogs and listening to various genres of music. She is sure to be missed by the vast host of family and friends whose lives she touched.
Susan was the loving mother of Sarah (and her husband Matthew Jezierski of Portland, ME), and Joshua Nye of Plymouth, MA. She was the cherished sister of Kristin Mabb and her husband Mark of Plymouth, Dr. Wayne Kruithoff and his wife Katy of Biddeford Pool, ME, and Dr. Keith Kruithoff and his wife Dr. Harriet Jacob of Shaker Heights, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition, she also leaves behind her dogs Velma and Dexter, and grand-dog, Allie.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial visitation on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Cartmell Life Celebration Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth (located across the street from The Christ Church Episcopal Parish) from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service in the Funeral Home at 5:00 p.m. Donations in Susan’s memory may be made to: The Animal Rescue League-Brewster Shelter, 1381 Main St., Brewster, MA 02631, or the Safe with Us Animal Rescue, 87 Jaffrey Ave., Holliston, MA 01746.
At the family’s request, masks are required to attend services in keeping with the Town of Plymouth’s mask mandate.
