A proud United States Air Force Veteran, he was known for his perpetual sense of humor, consistent punctuality, warm smile, kind heart, and soft chuckle. His greatest joy came from time spent with his beloved children and grandchildren. He especially loved attending his grandchildren’s events; at all their games you could find Poppy on the 50-yard line or right at half court. Poppy was adored by countless neighbors and friends, many of whom considered him their own Poppy. He loved reading (especially history and murder mysteries), watching TV and movies, crossword puzzles, Notre Dame football, pasties, and Diet Coke (most importantly).
He will forever be missed by his daughter Maura Dankert and her husband Jack of Bourne, MA, and his son Stephen Yosh and his wife Vicki of Stanhope, NJ. He also leaves his grandchildren, Annie, Johnny, Maggie, Mikey, Roisin, and Delaney, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
His funeral will be held at Corpus Christi Parish in East Sandwich on Thursday January 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Visitation with Poppy’s family will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the CARTMELL-DAVIS LIFE CELEBRATION FUNERAL HOME, 619 State Road, Plymouth (Manomet). Interment in the National Cemetery of Massachusetts will be held at a later date.
