Obituaries
Stephen Travassos, age 54, a lifelong resident of Plymouth, passed away on Wednesday, August 31st at BID Hospital in Plymouth. He was the devoted husband of 29 years to Christine (Desilets) Travassos and the loving father of Emma and Julia Travassos. He is also survived by siblings Richard Travassos, Lisa Travassos-Frasier, and Elizabeth Petrell; along with in-laws Pamela and Robert Desilets, Tammi and Scott Benson, Michelle and Anatoly Shnaider, and Robert and Kristin Desilets. Stephen was the uncle of Cameron Travassos, Ariana Petrell-Thomas, Brian Benson, Alexander Shnaider, Nathaniel Shnaider, and the late Brendon Travassos.
Stephen was born in Weymouth on March 26, 1968, son of the late Wayne A. Travassos and Doris Petrell. He was a graduate of Plymouth-Carver High School class of 1987. Stephen continued his education at Framingham State College, graduating in 1991 with a degree in medical technology, and later received his MBA from Anna Maria College in 2000. After working at BID Boston and Children’s Hospital, Stephen made a career of over 20 years as the Administrative Director of Laboratory Services at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. He was very proud of his work and viewed his colleagues as family. Stephen's family would like to extend the utmost thanks to the staff at Brockton Hospital and the Greene Cancer Center for their constant support and care.
Family was everything to Stephen. He was the absolute family man. Whether he was relaxing and playing bocce out at Saquish Beach, spending time laughing and joking with family and friends, or making budgets and giving financial advice, he enjoyed every minute. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 619 State Rd. (Manomet) Plymouth, on Wednesday, September 7th, from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will take place the following day in St. Mary’s Church, Plymouth, at 10:00 am. Followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Plymouth.
