Stefen D. Schwarz of Plymouth passed away at Sunrise of Plymouth Beach on February 23, 2023, at the age of ninety. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann C. (Crowley) Schwarz; loving father of Robin Markella Hallowell and her husband David of Duxbury, Robert Schwarz and his wife Mary of Wareham, Colleen Tavekelian and her husband Stephen of Plymouth, and Brad Schwarz and his wife Catherine of Wells, Maine. He was the cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to many.
Stefen was born on May 12, 1932, in Trenton, NJ to the late Katherine (Ducet) Quinn. After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served our country during the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. Stefen was extremely proud of his service. He received a bachelor's degree in teaching. He began his teaching career in Reading and then at Duxbury Middle School where he taught for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling to Daytona Beach, FL where he would spend a couple of weeks to a month each summer. He was a member of the VFW Post 1822 in Plymouth and served as an honor guard.
A private graveside service will be held at a future date. The funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Homes, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations in Stefen's memory be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360, VFW Post 1822, 7 Seven Hills Road, Plymouth, MA 02360, or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
