Obituaries
Shirley M. Lawhorne, age 78, of Kingston, formerly of Ft. Leonard Wood MO, died Tuesday August 19th at the BID Hospital in Plymouth. She was the devoted wife of the late Richard H. Lawhorne. Loving mother of Robert D. Lawhorne of Kingston, Linda S. Costa and her husband David of Plymouth, and the late Richard V. Lawhorne. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jamie L. Costa, and Elizabeth A. Lawhorne, siblings Marian Wyman of Hanson, Doris C. Mathews of Hanson, and the late Charles V. Mathews, as well as several nieces, nephews. Born on October 5, 1935, daughter of the late Vernon C. and Marian J. (Tibbetts) Mathews. Shirley was a graduate of Hanover High School, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. She worked as a waitress, for several years years at Pixley Richards as a Quality Control Inspector, and most recently for Pilgrim Innovative Plastics. Shirley loved her family, friends, swimming, kayaking, cooking, baking, drinking her morning coffee while reading the Herald, and scratch tickets. She was a 50 year member of the Order Of The Eastern Star. A visitation will be held at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St. Plymouth, on Friday August 22nd from 4:00 till 7:00 pm. Cremation will follow at the Vine Hills Crematory. A private committal service will take place at a later date in Manomet Cemetery.
