Shirley I. Burke
January 29, 1933 - August 2, 2017
Shirley I. Burke, age 84 of Plymouth, formerly of Saugus, passed away Wednesday, August 2nd, at her home in Plymouth. She was the devoted wife of William Burke. Loving mother of Michael Burke and his wife Denise of Plymouth, William Burke, Jr. and longtime girlfriend Lisa Azarian of Carver, Kathleen Grattan and her husband Steven of Plymouth, Paul Burke of Ipswich, and the late Colleen Burke. She was the grandmother of Kyra, John, and Kiersten Grattan, and Jared Burke. Shirley is also survived by her sister Martha Jane Campbell of Virginia. Born in Bitumen PA on January 29, 1933, daughter of the late Michael and Jennie (Huling) Hritzko. Shirley was a graduate of Renovo High School, in PA, class of 1950, and worked as a telephone operator before serving in the United States Air Force as a parachute rigger, achieving the rank of Sargent. She loved sewing, crossword puzzles, and reading. Shirley was also the librarian, and past 10 year chairmen of the membership committee for Plymouth Mobile Estates. A visitation will be held at Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St. Plymouth, on Sunday, August 6th, from 4:00 till 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day at St. Peters Church at 10:00 am. Interment in the Vine Hills Cemetery Plymouth.
