Ruth Ann (Sweeney) Roach, sixty-three years young, of Carver, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a long and debilitating fight with Corticobasal Degeneration. She is survived by her devoted husband and caregiver James Roach; daughter, Jaime Roach and her wife Rachel Seifert-Roach of Carver; son, Brian Roach and his wife Ritchell Roach of Middleboro; daughter , Madison Roach of Carver; grandson, Sawyer Roach of Carver; sisters, Virginia Jones of Weymouth, Margie Garvey of Davenport, FL, Helen Sweeney of Hanover; brother, Edward Sweeney and his wife Patricia Sweeney of Weymouth; treasured mother and sister-in-law, Joan Roach and Jean Thomas of Fort Edward, NY and brother and sister-in-law, Kevin Roach and Deb Caplan of Tequesta, FL and Carver, as well as her many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her parents John and Helen Sweeney; brother, Jack Sweeney; sister, Claire Sweeney; father-in-law, James Roach and brothers-in-law, Dennis Roach, Michael Roach, and Jim Thomas.
Ruth resided in Carver for the past forty-four years. She was well known around town and could not go anywhere without people stopping to chat. From her years at Sedell's Pharmacy, working the polls, out and about with her clients from the ARC or just out for a walk, Ruth was very involved in her community and took pride in being a Carver resident. Ruth had a big heart and generous spirit and was loved by so many friends, neighbors, and the individuals she supported through her work at the ARC. Ruth loved being a mother and a “Grammy” and she will be so very missed by her family.
Her passions were reading, cross stitch and quilting, travel, riding with Jim on the Harley, going to the theater, music and spending time with her family and friends.
Although she courageously fought her diagnosis by participating in all the clinical trials she could, Corticobasal Degeneration stole Ruth away from the people and life she loved far too soon. Please consider making a tribute donation to The Alzheimer's Association to further research in prevention and reversal of neurological syndromes associated with Alzheimer's disease in hopes that one day it will no longer have the ability to claim the lives of so many others like our Ruth.
