Obituaries
Rose (Varao) Camara of Rhode Island, formerly of Plymouth, passed away at home on November 15, 2022 at the age of ninety-two. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Camara, for 54 years; loving mother of Alfred Camara and his wife Kathie of Clermont Florida and Dolores Isenberg and her husband Paul of Wakefield, Rhode Island; grandmother of five and great grandmother of five. She was the sister of the late Joseph Varao, John Varao, Frances Arruda and Maria Varao.
Rose was born on February 23, 1930 in Plymouth to the late Joao de Sousa and Ana (Almeida) Varao. She was born in the United States but was raised in St. Miguel, Azores. She returned to the United States at the age of 21 after her marriage to Arthur. Eleven years ago she moved to West Warwick to be with her daughter, Dolores. Rose was a seamstress for thirty-two years at the Ellis Curtain Factory in Plymouth. She was an avid baker and enjoyed cooking for extended family, hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for many years. She loved sewing and made everything from clothes to curtains. She lovingly created beautiful crocheted heirlooms and tatted lace pieces with intricate designs for family and friends. She loved her family beyond measure and would move mountains to help anyone. Rose and Arthur were devout parishioners of St. Mary’s Church in Plymouth. She will be dearly missed by all of those who loved her.
A period of visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated following the visitation at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 313 Court Street, Plymouth. The interment will follow the Mass at Vine Hills Cemetery, Samoset Street, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice
