He was the beloved husband of June (Galvin) Sampson; the loving father of Robert Sampson and his wife Joanie of California, Kevin Sampson and his wife Jackie of Plymouth, Ashley Morgan and her husband Jeremy of Plymouth, and Michael Warburton and his partner Dan Riviello of Provincetown; cherished “Papa” of Emma and Nate Sampson, Ella, and Samantha Sampson, and Camden and Remi Morgan; he was the brother of Jacquelyn Sampson of North Easton, Garry Sampson of Milford and Andrea Ledoux and her husband Jim of Attleboro. He also leaves his two nephews, Garry Sampson, Jr., and John Ledoux.
Robert was born on September 17, 1948, in Milford to the late Warren and Thelma Sampson. He grew up in Walpole and entered the United States Navy at seventeen years old. He was stationed on the USS Independence and received the National Defense Service Medal. He was a Safety Officer for JF White Contracting for over forty years, where his work contributed to the “Big Dig” and bridge work throughout the South Shore and Cape Cod. His passion for Greyhound Rescue started with the beloved Annie, then Willie, followed by Neveah, next was Bertha and finally Hank who is still with us. He was a member of the Plymouth Rod and Gun Club. He was a classic car and motorcycle enthusiast which included washing and shining his vehicles faithfully each week and enjoyed attending many car shows. Robert enjoyed traveling to Motorcycle Rallies and long weekend rides with his wife, June, and friends. He enjoyed spending time with neighborhood friends in Wareham playing bocci ball and boating where he had a second home. Hosting family holidays and gathering friends for special occasions year-round were some of his most memorable past times. Most of all, his laugh would fill the room, make you smile, and warm your heart.
A period of visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth.
