Obituaries
The family of Richard K Walsh is saddened to announce his sudden departure from us. He enjoyed 75 healthy vibrant years with family and friends, but his last 2 years were difficult following impairments from strokes.
He raised three children in his first marriage to Helen Flanagan at the age of 19. His daughter, Kathleen and his son, Kevin survive him though he grieved the loss of Kelley Jane in 2019. He married his current wife of 42 years, Dr. Carolyn Shaak, in 1980 and they have three children Clayton, Westley and Charlotte.
As a father to six, grandfather to nine, and great grandfather to two (with twins on the way), Richard was blessed to have all of his family living within 60 miles of the home he built in Plymouth in 1982. He enjoyed many vacations with his family and looked forward to large gatherings in Plymouth each Christmas.
Richard retired from his business, Fries Tow, Inc., in his early 60s and enjoyed over a decade of free time to work tirelessly on maintaining his home and landscaping. His other hobbies included skiing, boating, travel, dining out and reading.
He lived life large and toasted every occasion with the words, "Having a Hell of a time" (and the less politically correct, "What are the poor people doing now?"). Having grown up under significant financial stress with the early death of his “Dad”. Richard was always grateful for the blessings of a comfortable life and a healthy large family. We will miss his wit, sarcasm, humor, and "glass half full" attitude.
Please join us for a period of visitation on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 619 State Road, Plymouth (Manomet), from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Directly following the service, we invite all to stop by our house at 48 Sharps Drive, Plymouth for lunch. We will celebrate his life with a Johnny Walker Black toast as we play Sinatra's "I Did It My Way", scroll pictures of his life, and tell many humorous stories.
