Richard Wight Crimp

Richard Wight Crimp, age 60, of Plattsburgh, NY died October 1 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Framingham, Mass on May 22, 1949, he was the son of the late Woodrow J. Crimp and Margaret Crimp Guise. He was a graduate of Paul Smiths College, Paul Smiths, NY and then pursued his love of the sea, graduating 1st in his class from Calhoun MEBA Engineering School, Baltimore, MD in 1980. As a Merchant Mariner, Dick attained the rank of 2nd Engineer, shipping extensively to many foreign countries in his fifteen years of service. Dick was devoted to his dogs, loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and hiking. In addition to his mother he is survived by his sister, Nancy C. Malick of Placerville, CA, his foster brother, Bernard H. Cohen of Cormeilles-En-Parisis, France, his stepsisters, Patricia Iaconis and husband Ernest of North Attleboro, Sharon Keniston and husband Robert of Brewster, Suzanne Barber and husband Richard of Brewster and his partner Linda Boire of Plattsburgh, NY and her children, Matthew and Jason. In 1968 Dick escorted Linda to her Keeseville Central School Prom. Thirty-five years later, in a twist of fate, they were reunited and spent Dick's remaining years counting their blessings to have found each other again. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 25, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court Street, Plymouth. Following the service a reception will be held at the Community Center, 213 Pilgrim Trail at Plymouth Mobile Estates (off Samoset Street).
