Richard A. Casoni, 71, of Plymouth, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 1, 1940, in Brockton, to the late Aleramo (Skiddy) and Jennie (Baldini) Casoni. He was united in marriage to his soul-mate Lourdeen (Sheridan) Casoni on October 6, 1979 at the historical Jacob's Farm in Norwell where they were curators.
Richard served for two years in the Army following high school. His later occupations were dominated by the marine world. He served as an Officer in the Merchant Marines on oceanographic vessels, worked as Quality Control at Cape Dory Yachts, and subsequently became a vocational teacher of Marine Mechanic and related fields. He taught at the South Shore Vocational Technical High School in Hanover and the Manatee Technical Institute in Bradenton, Florida.
Richard achieved the Eagle Scout status in Boy Scouts. His interests included reading, history, traveling and camping, cross-country skiing, bird watching, boat building, canoeing with all the kids, and long walks on the beach with his wife. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed numerous family get-togethers and time spent at Long Pond.
Survivors include his wife, Lourdeen (Sheridan) of 33 years, four sons, Richard A. Casoni (Tracy), Mario C. Casoni (Stephanie), Mauricio C. Casoni, Alexander C. Casoni and one daughter, Elizabeth Casoni, his grandchildren: Andrew, Julia, Alana, Barbara, Marisa, Mario, Aspen and Carmen Kayla. Richard is also survived by his brother David Casoni and sister Louise Casoni-Tingblad (Richard), his niece Kristin, his sister-in-law Michele Quinn (Kevin), and nieces Christine and Deirdre and his brother-in-law Reverend Paul G. Sheridan, S.J.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A, M, on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 81 Court Street, Plymouth, celebrated by Rev, Paul G. Sheridan, S.J. There will be a celebration of Richard's life immediately following the mass for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Richard A. Casoni Memorial Fund for the Grandchildren at Rockland Trust, 32 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA 02360.
