Renata (Rabe) Marcyes died February 25, 2016, one day before her ninety-fifth birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Marcyes. They were married for 58 years. "Ronnie" was born February 26, 1921 on a farm in rural Nebraska, one of eleven children of the late William and Lydia (Meeske) Rabe . She is survived by her son Thomas, his wife Sylvia and two granddaughters, Rebecca and Sophia, of Ridgewood, New Jersey. Also 2 nieces and four nephews. She was very devoted to her granddaughters and cherished the time she spent with them. She was educated in Wisner, Nebraska public schools and graduated from Wisner High School.She received her R.N from Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1942. She served in the Army Nurse Corp. during World War II from August 1944 until January 1946, and participated in the Rhineland Campaign. She met her husband Paul, an army officer, two years after the war ended. After many moves over the next 20 years, they settled in Manomet at Priscilla Beach. Ronnie was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in North Plymouth. She worked at the Jordan Hospital until 1980. In addition to singing in the church choir, her great love was barbershopstyle singing. In 1963 she founded a Sweet Adelines chorus in Plymouth, the Cranberry Shores Chorus. In 2009 her fellow chorus members honored her for 50 years as a member of "Sweet Adelines International." Calling hours will be on Saturday February 27 th from 2 until 5 at the Zion Lutheran Church 384 Court St. Plymouth. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm in the Church. Burial on Monday at 9:15 am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, the Cancer Center at the Jordan Hospital, or The American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
