Peter James Mason – a perpetual star gazer, imaginative old soul, lover of good times, and seemingly always-inspired instigator – played his last memorable track when he left our world unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Well-intentioned with a wild side, Peter lived a life that wasn't ordinary, but he was always open to all people and anyone who needed a listening ear, reassurance, or kind words.
Peter was born in Worcester on April 27, 1984, and attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and High School in Kingston. After graduating from Plymouth South High School in 2003, Peter channeled his inner nomad and spent several years roaming from state to state before returning home to Massachusetts. Peter eventually put down roots in Webster where he worked at Lakeview Marine as a Dock Installer, and could often be found fishing, camping, and disc golfing in his free time. With a passionate love for his family and friends, the great outdoors, and music, Peter made every moment special and always brought laughter to those around him. Despite his early departure, he leaves behind a lifetime of unforgettable adventures that are sure to be told around campfires from Cape Cod to Alaska.
Peter is survived by his parents Gary R. and Sharon (Sheehan) Mason of Plymouth; his son Peter J. Mason Jr. of Braintree; and his sister Emily C.M. Bannister, her husband David, and their daughters Caillie and Riley of Somerville. He also leaves behind his dear friend and uncle Jim Mason of Webster, as well as many other aunts, uncles, and cousins who he held close to his heart.
Visiting hours will take place on Friday, May 19 from 9:30-10:30 A.M. in the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 619 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet), and will be followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Bonaventure Church, 801 State Rd., Manomet. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Peter's name may be made to the Plymouth Recovery Center, 5 Main St. Ext., Plymouth, MA 02360 https://plymouthrecoverycenter.org/donate/
