Obituaries
Patrick John Brennan (71) of Plymouth passed away peacefully the morning of September 9, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Patrick was born in Attleboro to the late Cyril and Dorothy Brennan. He leaves his beloved wife of forty years, Paula Linsky Brennan and three treasured children, Sean of Chicago, Michael and his wife Kim of Carver, and Cristin Brennan and Adam Holmes of Middleborough. He was the adored Papa of Ryen, Aria, Cillian, Keane and Isla. Patrick also leaves three siblings, Jerome and his late wife Betsy of Chicopee, Martha and George Mutrie of Kingston, and Terence and Mary Jane of Plymouth and the late Timothy and Paul. Additionally, he leaves his brother-in-law, Richard Linsky of Arkansas and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Patrick’s life was always closely attached to the natural world. At only ten, he planted a vegetable garden and went door to door with his produce. He farmed for a decade in Virginia honing skills first taught to him by his beloved uncle, Arthur Cate. Returning to Massachusetts, Patrick employed his entrepreneurial skills to build a garden center business on Cape Cod. Later, he became a property manager on the South shore.
Patrick was a lifelong hiker, cyclist, and walker. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of plants and birds and was an active member of the Appalachia Mountain Club, Wildlands Trust, Mass Audubon, South Eastern Massachusetts Pine Barrens Alliance and Jones River Watershed Association.
For the past several years, Patrick was a faithful volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Plymouth. Serving his community, generously giving to charity, and helping neighbors were central tenets of his belief system.
Patrick’s wish was that in his memory, family and friends would hike or walk in the forest and allow the trees above and the earth below to bring them peace.
The Brennan family is deeply grateful to Cranberry Hospice for their compassionate care of Patrick and for the help and guidance they afforded the family.
A period of visitation will take place on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth. For more information or to sign the online guestbook please visit www.cartmelldavis.com.
