Obituaries
Oliver Gilman Wood of Plymouth and formerly of Scituate, died peacefully at home with family by his side on September 2, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Muriel (Hubbert) Wood. Born in Philadelphia, PA. on March 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Oliver and Mary (Colbert) Wood. He was a graduate of The Darrow School in NY and the University of Toronto in Canada, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He went on to work at International Business Machines (IBM), where he built a 30-year career as a top performing salesperson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who enjoyed life to its fullest and spending time with his family and friends. His infectious laugh and ability to warm the hearts of everyone around him was unique to "Ollie", as everyone affectionally called him. He was an avid skier, gardener, and knew everything about the Fighting Irish. His truest love was traveling with Muriel to Maine, Sandy Lake, and Alaska, enjoying the beautiful scenery and spending time together.
He is survived by his sons Peter Wood and his partner Karen Moore of Plymouth and Blair Wood of Montana, his daughters Stacey Wood and her husband Mark Widrig of California, and Kimberly Ryttel and her husband Peter of Plymouth. He was the grandfather of 8 beautiful grandchildren that he loved.
Visiting hours are on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 619 State Rd. Plymouth, MA. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception at The Moose Lodge, 601 State Road at 2:00 pm.
