Olga (Spokowski) LaForest, age 97, of Marshfield, died on January 24th, 2017 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham with her family at her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Leonard John LaForest. Born in Northampton, MA on September 2, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Rose Spokowski. She was educated in Northampton, MA and later became a secretary at Westover Air Base during WWII, where she met her husband, John. Following her marriage in 1943, Olga moved to Plymouth, MA, and subsequently to Marshfield in 1949 and was co-owner of LaForest's Village Shoppe in Marshfield until 1973, where in addition to managing the gift shop, she cooked muffins and daily luncheon specials . Later she worked for the Town of Marshfield Assessor's Office many years. She volunteered for the Marshfield Food Bank, the Talking Information Center and Marshfield Senior Center. She was a member of the Women's Club of Marshfield and the Women's Guild of St. Christine's Church. Most importantly, Olga had a strong devotion to her family and her faith. She was the loving mother of Leonard S. LaForest and his wife Elyse, Ann Fletcher and her husband Brian, and Michele Powers and her husband Dr. Francis Powers, all of Marshfield. She was the beloved sister of the late Harry G. Spokowski and his wife Matilda, Walter Spokowski, Ann Adams and her husband Thomas. She leaves her sister-in-law Martha Spokowski of Sudbury, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Jessica Brown, Adam Fletcher, Brenden Powers and Noel Powers. She also leaves three great-grandchildren; Aidan, Fletcher and Liam Brown. Friends and relatives are welcome to visiting hours on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Marshfield. The funeral will take place on Monday morning at 8:15 a.m. from the MacDonald Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., in St. Christine's Church, 1295 Main St., Marshfield. Interment will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Marshfield, MA. Donations in Olga's memory may be made to the Norwell VNA or The Pat Roche Hospice House @ www.nvna.org
