Mildred Anderson Black
July 6, 1934 - January 31, 2015
Mildred Anderson Black, age 80, died on January 31, 2015 in Tufts Medical Center, Boston following a brief illness. Born in Boston, MA on July 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Albert (Bob) and Georgia (MacLean) Monti. Mildred was raised and educated in Medford, Ma. After marring Stanley Burgess of Plymouth, she lived in various towns throughout the South Shore. Throughout the years she had been a homemaker and worked at Randy Boat Shoes, Haemonetics, and Boston Envelope. She married Frederick Anderson (deceased) in 1993 and lived on a boat in Quincy for 15 years. She married Lawrence Black (deceased) in 2010.
Millie was a seasoned traveler. She vacationed on cruise ships many times with her daughter Christine and loved going to Florida with any family member that was going. She treasured life on the road with her camper and her late husband Larry. Two of the many adventure stories she liked to repeat where, a solo cruise to Alaska and a hiking trip to Arcadia with her grand-daughter Erika and her son Lee. She enjoyed socializing at bingo at the Plymouth Council on Aging. Her favorite times where spent with her family. She spend the last 5 years living in Plymouth with her daughter, companion, caregiver, and the strong advocate Christine. She is survived by daughters Christine Sampson of Plymouth, Nancy Pratt and her husband John of Plymouth, Susan Stevenson and her husband Henry of Marlborough, Patricia Gunnarson and her husband Robert of Marshfield, her son Stanley (Lee) Burgess of Spartanburg, South Carolina, 12 grand-children Erika Locke , Anthony Sampson, Alan Joseph Sampson, Allison Sampson, Josh Maxim, David Maxim, Sandra Maxim, Lydia Gunnarson, Eben Gunnarson, Jared Gunnarson, James Stevenson, Andrew Stevenson and 8 Great-Grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Donna Maclean of Middleborough.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at Cold Spring Chapel, 190 Court Street, and Plymouth at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at Pinehurst Friendship Center, South Meadow Road, Plymouth. Cremation will take place at the Vine Hills Crematory, Plymouth. Donations in her memory may be made to the Cranberry Hospice, Inc., 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
