As well as being survived by her husband, she is also survived by her son, Steven “JR” Shepard and his significant other, Adriana Hamlin of Carver, MA. Marylou was the sister to the late Walter “Skip” Shepard, III and his wife Cheryl of Cupertino, CA, the late Gail (Shepard) Hunter and her husband Larry of Manomet MA, Karen (Shepard) Stevens of Pembroke, MA, her four-legged “kids”, her well loved nieces and nephews, and her many cousins.
Marylou spent most of her younger years growing up in Manomet, MA, but settled down in Carver, MA, with her husband and son. She had a zest for life and was always laughing. She enjoyed spending her time mostly outdoors, whether that was camping, fishing, being on or near the water, riding motorcycles, or even shoveling snow and splitting wood. She loved her dogs who she raised as her "kids", reading, traveling, and spending time with family. She went on many cruises with her husband and friends over the years to the Caribbean. Marylou was always up for an adventure or a helping hand. She often traveled to Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, & California to spend time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marylou worked as an insurance underwriter for 15 years at Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company and previously at Guardian Life of America. She and her husband both worked at Boston Whaler Ship Builders before the company relocated to Florida. Many of her coworkers over the years became lifelong friends. She loved keeping in touch with friends and family, near and far, on social media - even posting “snow dances” when the forecast called for it because the snow was her favorite part of living in New England. She could often be heard saying, “Bring it on! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!”.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 4:00PM – 7:00PM in the CARTMELL-DAVIS LIFE CELEBRATION FUNERAL HOME, 150 Court Street, Plymouth (downtown). In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donation in her name to a local animal shelter of your choosing.
