Obituaries
Mary J. (Ruggiano) Birro of Plymouth formerly of North Weymouth, died peacefully in her home on Monday June 19th with the love of her daughter at her side. Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on November 29, 1927, daughter of the late Luigi and Lena (Fusco) Ruggiano. She was educated in Quincy and a graduate of Quincy High School. Mary worked at Alston Studios in Weymouth, and the Hingham Institution for Savings Bank as an Accounts Manager for many years. She lived in North Weymouth for over 30 years before moving to Plymouth in Long Pond Village. Mary lived with her daughter for the last five years at Great Island in Pinehills, Plymouth.
She was the beloved wife of the late Tony (Anthony P.) Birro, who died in 2014. She is survived by her daughter Nancy L. Westberg of Plymouth and mother to the late Richard Birro. Cherished grandmother of Clifford Westberg Jr. and Steven Westberg. granddaughter-in-laws Kari Westberg and Ally Westberg and Great grandmother of Connor, Maxwell, Katie, Charlotte and Reese Westberg, all of Plymouth. Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Lee Schultz and Ann McCullock, and her brothers, Joseph Ruggiano and Andrew Ruggiano.
Mary was very active in many social clubs and loved to dance and travel, play bingo and cards. She cherished the time spent with her loving husband, family, and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday July 6th at 11:00 am in St. Bonaventure Church, 801 State Road Plymouth (Manomet). Burial will follow at the MA. National Cemetery in Bourne. Memorial donations in her name may be made to Cranberry Hospice 36 Cordage Park Circle Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360. Arrangements entrusted to the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home 619 State Rd. Plymouth (Manomet).
