Marion P. "Miriam" Zoccolante

Marion "Miriam" Priscilla (Ketchen) Zoccolante, age 90, died peacefully on January 1, 2011 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. She was the beloved wife of the late Adolph Zoccolante. Born in Plymouth on July 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late William and Honour E. (White) Ketchen. She was educated in Plymouth and Kingston schools and was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1938. A lifelong Plymouth resident, Mrs. Zoccolante had worked for the Town of Plymouth for many years as a secretary in the Parks and Recreation Department as well as the Department of Public Works (Engineering). She was co-owner along with her husband Adolph "Al" of the Miriam and Al's Greenhouse. She was a member of the Plymouth Women's Club, the Salvation Army and did volunteer work for the American Cancer Society (in her mother's honor). She was also a member of the Woman's Alliance at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist as well as volunteering for many other organizations as needed. She was a noted Plymouth Historian, often lending her knowledge of the local history to those inquiring. Miriam enjoyed her trip to Foxwoods and the Raynham Dog Track as a favorite past time. She was the loving mother of Richard Rougeau and David Rougeau both of Plymouth, Joanne McGovern of Center Ossipee, ME, Wilma Arruda and Honour Ferris both of Plymouth. She was the dear sister of William Ketchen, the late John Ketchen, Maggie Mills, Roberta Fountain, Helen Jones. She was the Cherished grandmother of 14, and great grandmother of many. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The funeral service will take place on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 12:00 at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist, Town Square, Plymouth. Visitation at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth on Friday morning from 9:45 to 11:45. Interment will be in the Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth.
