Obituaries
Marilyn A. (Milne) Dykeman of Carver passed away on February 24, 2023, at Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge at the age of eighty-nine. She was the loving wife of the late Robert V. Dykeman; devoted mother of Christine Dykeman and her husband Frank Hagney of Nashua, NH, Chari Souza and her husband John of Plymouth, and the late Coralie Dykeman; cherished grandmother of Leah Souza of Plymouth and her fiancé Chris Farrah of Middleboro, Johnny Souza III and his wife Caitlyn of Plymouth, Tim Hagney and his wife Erin Rea of San Diego, CA, and Mitch Hagney and his partner Emily Royall of San Antonio, Texas. She leaves her precious great-granddaughter, Parker Jacquelyn Souza, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Coralie Lunn, Ruth Vetra, and Walter "Bud" Milne.
Marilyn was born in Marshfield on March 12, 1933, to the late Walter Scott and Ruth V. (Harris) Milne. She was raised in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield High School, where she lettered in many sports and cheerleading. She earned a master's degree in education from Bridgewater State College and taught fifth grade for the Plymouth Public Schools for twenty-six years until her retirement. She liked ice skating, horseback riding, swimming, and playing piano. She enjoyed sewing for the grandchildren and created amazing Halloween costumes and cozy pajamas. Growing up in Marshfield, Marilyn had strong ties to the Marshfield Fair. At a young age, she served as an usher and later introduced her children to the many activities that could be experienced at the fair, most notably horse racing. She loved playing at the casino, as well as cruising and visiting Disney World with her family. She was known for her sense of humor and hearty laugh.
A period of visitation will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 150 Court Street, Plymouth. Words of remembrance will be shared at 11:30 am and interment will follow at Chiltonville Cemetery, Plymouth.
