Mariana B. Valla

Mariana B. Valla of Kingston died peacefully on Oct. 10th in her home. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph E. Valla. Born in Bristol. R.I. on February 15, 1923 a daughter of the late Joseph and Almarinda Cabral. She lived, temporarily, in both Rhode Island and Nebraska, but spent most of her life in Kingston. She is survived by 2 sons Edward H. Valla of Kingston, Brian J. Valla of Willington, CT., 2 daughters Karen LeRiche of Troutman, NC., and Rogene M. Weathers of Carver. Her grandchildren Dr. Edward J. Valla of Taunton , Aron D. Valla of Randolph, Michael LeRiche of N.C., Sharon Mazzilli of Plymouth, Justin of Plymouth, Jenna of Weymouth and Joanna Weathers of Portland Maine. Erika Parke of Hull, Danielle LeRiche of Mooresville NC. And Katie Sheck of Raeford, NC. 7 great grandchildren Joseph, Francis, Cristofer, Kailey, Jacob, Kyra, and Alexandra. 4 sisters Alma Reposa and Arlene Bassett of Plymouth. Angelina Gasper of Carver and Gloria Sias of San Bernardino, CA. 2 Brothers Manuel Cabral of Kingston and August Cabral of Raynham. She had 3 brothers and 2 sisters who preceded her in death. She graduated from Kingston High School and Plymouth Voc. School of Practical Nursing. Mariana worked at the Jordan Hospital as an LPN for many years and retired from there. St. Joseph's Church on Main St. in Kingston was where she was a communicant and member of The Mater Dei Women's Guild. She served as a Eucharistic Minister under 3 pastors. In her early life she was a Brownie Troop Leader and Taught Sunday School at St. Joseph's Church. Her interests were traveling, crafts, crocheting, music, theatre, reading, and she enjoyed entertaining her family and many friends. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were very special to her and helped fulfill her life. Funeral from the Cartmell Funeral Home 150 Court St. Plymouth on WED. At8:00 am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Kingston at 9:00 am visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Kingston.
