Marguerite P. "Rita" Joyce

Marguerite P. "Rita" (McMorrow) Joyce, age 85, died peacefully at home on January 26, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of John J. Joyce of Plymouth. Born in Dorchester, Boston, on February 11, 1927, Rita was the beloved daughter of the late Gerald and Helen (Spillane) McMorrow. She was educated in Boston and was a graduate of Dorchester High School, Class of 1943. For many years, Rita had worked for the United States Postal Service as an Assistant Postmaster in the West Falmouth Post Office.
Mrs. Joyce held a strong devotion to her family. She enjoyed spending her time reading, an ace at word search, and crosswords. She was a devoted member of St. Bonaventure's Church, and particularly devoted to St. Monica, patron Saint of Patience and Family.
Besides leaving her devoted husband John, Rita was the loving mother of John J. Joyce, Jr. of Bridgewater, NH, Martin Joyce of Bourne, Noreen Labadie of Abington, Kathleen Rogers of Onset, Maureen McMahon of Plymouth with whom she made her home, Geraldeen Dunfey of Milford and Eileen Clark of Warren, NH. She was the cherished grandmother of 17, and great-grandmother of 19.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will take place on Wednesday morning at 9:15 from the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bonaventure's Church, State Road, Manomet, (Plymouth) at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Hood Cemetery, Brookline, MA. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Bonaventure's Church Building Fund, P.O.Box 977, Manomet, MA 02345.
