Obituaries
Margaret “Peggi” A. McNeil, age 83, of Plymouth, formerly of Quincy and South Boston, passed away on Monday, January 23rd, at her home in Plymouth. She was the devoted wife of 60 years to Paul E. McNeil. Loving mother of P. Christopher McNeil of Boston, and the late Susan McNeil Rich. Peggi was the grandmother to the “apple of her eye” Ashley Rich of Naples FL. She was predeceased by her brother John Rooney.
Peggi was born in South Boston on February 1, 1939, daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Mooney) Rooney. She was a graduate of South Boston High School. She met Paul and the two were married after 5 years of dating. The two made their home in Quincy for 50 years and summered in Manomet. In 2010 they decided to make Manomet their full time residence. But, they spent every winter in Port Charlotte FL near Ashley.
Peggi was a woman of faith. She was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Wollaston Beach (Quincy), and member of MaryAnn’s Woman Group. She volunteered her time with Catholic Charities in Plymouth.
Visitation will be held at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 619 State Rd. Plymouth (Manomet), on Wednesday, February 1st, from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will take place the next day at St. Bonaventure’s Church, Plymouth, at 10:00 am. Followed by burial in Manomet Cemetery. Donations in Peggi’s memory may be made to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, PO Box 9, Nazareth KY 40048, or the St. Bonaventure’s Food Pantry, PO Box 996, Plymouth MA 02345.
