Obituaries
It is with heavy hearts we share that our beloved husband, father, and friend, Mahmud Ashraf Chaudhary of Plymouth, MA, passed away in Boston on January 23rd with his loving wife by his side. He was known to most as Ashraf, Ash, or Uncle Ash.
He was born on December 25th, 1943, the son of the late Abdul Jabbar and Salamat Chaudhary. In 1969, he came to the U.S. with his Master’s Degree and twenty dollars to his name with the drive and ambition to live the American dream. Ash was the first in his family to immigrate to the United States and soon thereafter proudly become an American citizen. With his tireless efforts and guidance, he made it possible for so many others to pursue their American Dream as well. Ash was a true pioneer, and a scholar at heart.
He was a beloved husband of fifty years to his wife Nabeela “Nona” Chaudhary, and an adored father to his two children his daughter Sara Chaudhary of Plymouth, MA, and his son Shawn Chaudhary of Nashville, TN. Ash and Nona had an unbreakable bond, did everything in life together, and cherished every moment where they created a lifetime of loving memories.
Ash filled the role of both a supportive father and a dear friend to his children, Sara and Shawn. He was loved and treasured by them beyond measure. The Chaudhary’s value family above all else. Ash’s closest friends, old and new, became part of his family with a bond as thick as blood. He had many lasting friendships and relationships that he cherished, spanning his lifetime. He was lovingly referred to as “Uncle Ash” by his many nieces and nephews who adored him.
He was employed as a longtime Chemist at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth and ran the lab for many years. Ash was curious and loved talking to people and learning about anything and everything. Ash valued education, adored traveling, was an avid reader, and had a passion for history. He was a kind man who was a friend to everyone. Anyone who knew him, knew him as a man who was loving, elegant, honest, incredibly intelligent, and above all else a light in this world.
Relatives and friends are invited to join them on Thursday January 26th from 12 noon till 1:00pm with a service to be held at 1:00 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home 373 Court St. North Plymouth (Near Cordage Park). Burial will follow at Plymouth County Cemetery in Plymouth.
Memorial donations in his name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He will be greatly missed.
