Mabel Frances Ryan

Mabel Frances Sullivan (Sully) Ryan, age 92, died on January 21, 2011, at her home in Hingham. She was the devoted wife of the late Ernest Joseph Ryan. Born in Hudson Falls, NY, on April 1, 1918, Mabel was the eldest daughter of the late Dennis and Mabel (Madison) Sullivan. She was educated at Hunter College in New York City and received her master's degree in library science from SUNY Albany. She taught high school in Fort Edward, NY and was later the librarian at Mount St. Mary’s College in Hooksett, NH. Later she was the librarian in the Milton schools. She moved to Hingham in 2008, having previously resided in Priscilla Beach in Plymouth. She was a member of the Bonnie Seniors, was an avid bridge player and enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Plymouth Council on Aging. Mrs. Ryan is survived by her sons Michael Ryan of Naples, FL, Timothy Ryan of Marshfield, MA and Dennis Ryan of Boston, MA. She was the beloved sister of Edmund Sullivan of Glens Falls, NY, Audrey Gardner of Contoocook, NH, and Barbara Beard of Woodridge, VA. She was predeceased by nine other siblings. She was the cherished grandmother of 3. The funeral will take place on Monday morning at 9:00 from the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bonaventure’s Church in Plymouth (Manomet) at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Cartmell Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Central Cemetery, Randolph.
