Lorraine Catherine Christoffersen died peacefully Sunday morning July 17th surrounded by her children at B.I.D. hospital in Plymouth.
Lorraine was born in Berlin NH on Sept 23rd 1931. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred “Chris” Christoffersen, parents Doris and Sylvio Moreau and by her brothers and sisters: Gordon, Dot, Betty, Pat and Gil. Lorraine’s father died when she was very young. To help Lorraine’s mother, her Aunt Cecile and Uncle Howard invited Lorraine and her sister Pat to spend summers with them at their farm in Francestown NH.
After graduating from Berlin HS where Lorraine was a cheerleader, she moved to Cecile and Howard’s home in Belmont MA and commuted to The Chamberlain School of Retail where she earned her Associates degree. Upon graduation from Chamberlain, she took a job at Jordan Marsh Dept Store as an assistant buyer where she met her future husband, Chris.
They were married in Boston where they lived until the birth of their first son Michael and Lorraine became a full-time homemaker. Chris’ career took them to various towns across New England. They lived in Brockton MA where their son David was born and Holliston MA, where their daughter Carol was born. They lived in Cape Elizabeth ME and finally settled in Plymouth MA until Chris retired and they made their final move to South Meadow Village in Carver. Her last years were spent living with her daughter Carol and her family in Carver.
Lorraine lived a full life raising her family and serving as den mother, CCD teacher and grade level coordinator for the St. Peters CCD program. She also worked for Cranberry Hospice for several years as secretary. She was a devout Catholic and loved Jesus. She also loved the Red Sox and watched them every night! She was thrilled to have her picture taken with Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo.
She was beloved by all who knew her and she made many happy memories for them. From family reunions in NH to Lions Club dances to the Holly Faire at SMV to weekends at Webster Lake, sing-a-longs and special trips with children and Nana’s Day Out with grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting with her SMV knitting group “Knit Wits”. She loved Christmas and made ornaments for her children and grandchildren every year. She was especially proud of her lovely ceramic nativity she made.
Lorraine is survived by her son Michael and his wife Liz of Hollis NH, son David and his wife Mary of Trumbull CT, and daughter Carol Spiewakowski and her husband Matt of Carver. She was the cherished Nana of David Christoffersen and his wife Laura, Matt Christoffersen and his wife Kate, Kate Spadaro and her husband Christopher, Griffin Christoffersen and Haley and Kylie Spiewakowski.
