Obituaries
Lillian L. (Meehan) Travers, 90, of Plymouth, a retired postal worker, died on Monday, January 2, 2023. Mrs. Travers worked as a postal clerk in the Minot, North Scituate, and Scituate Post Offices. Lillian grew up in Cohasset and later returned to live on Pleasant Street before relocating to Plymouth. For many years after her retirement, Lillian split her time between Plymouth and Fort Myers with her beloved husband of 49 years, George F. Travers, before his passing. Lillian was a lifelong sports enthusiast, playing field hockey, basketball, and softball in high school. In later years, Lillian took up golf so that she could share hours on the golf course with George. For many years Lillian was a volunteer at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth (formally Jordan Hospital) and was an active member of the “Red Hatters” of Carver/Plymouth and looked forward to their monthly outings and events.
Lillian is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Soccorso and her husband, Noel of Bridgewater, and Linda Travers-Bogart and her husband, Robert Bogart of Flowery Branch, Georgia (formerly of Plymouth). Lillian lovingly referred to as “Nana” treasured spending time with her grandchildren, Jared and Justin Soccorso of Bridgewater, Amanda (Bogart) Dockter and her husband, James of Myrtle Beach, and her three great-grandchildren Aidan and Liam Soccorso and Jaxson Dockter.
A period of visitation will take place on Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 619 State Road (Route 3A) Plymouth (Manomet). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Road, Plymouth (Manomet). The burial will follow the Mass at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave. in Bourne.
