Obituaries
Laura Eagan, age 91, of Plymouth, died Thursday, January 3, 2019 following a brief illness. She was the wife of Richard E. Eagan, and the daughter of the late Richard J. and Hazel I. (Smith) Franz Jr. Born on January 3, 1928 in Medford, Laura was a graduate of Melrose High School, attended the New England Conservatory of Music, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Regis College in Weston.
Laura had a wide range interests including classical music, scuba diving, the Catholic church and nature which included bringing wildlife from the New England Aquarium to local schools for lectures and exhibitions. She was passionate about gardening and anything to do with life, family and the beautiful outdoors.
Besides her husband Richard, she is survived by her daughters, Patricia A. Eagan of Holyoke, Christine M. Eagan of Waltham, Carol J. Sherrin of Delmar, NY, Tracy McGill of Duxbury, and sons, Michael K. Eagan of Sudbury, Richard E. Eagan Jr. of Duxbury, Thomas W. Eagan of Manhattan, NY, Brian P. Eagan of Nashua, NH, and predeceased by Stephen Grace. Laura also had nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and was the sister of the late Richard J. Franz III and Robert Franz.
Her funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2018 at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Rd., Plymouth (MANOMET), 10:00AM. Interment will be in Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury. Visiting hours will be at the DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 373 Court St. Plymouth on Tuesday from 4:00PM – 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the “Mass Audubon Society”, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773.
