Obituaries
On January 31, Joseph Francis Thompson of East Bridgewater, formerly of Boston, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital. Joe was the beloved husband of Helen Jane (Kucinski) Thompson for 60 years.
He was the son of the late Joseph Francis and Dorothy (Picard) Thompson, born in Boston on November 30, 1940. After graduating from Brockton High School, he went on to serve his country as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963, where he was assigned to heavy artillery in Vietnam. He also served with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
Joe spent most of his professional life as a plant manager for Southeastern Regional Vocational High School in Easton, and also West Bridgewater School systems where he worked with his best friend (Lenny Thompson).
Being a part of the South Shore Marine League, Metro South Marine League, and the Disabled American Veterans Association allowed him to stay active throughout his life. He was an East Bridgewater V.F.W. and American Legion member. He also participated in coaching youth soccer and little league baseball in East Bridgewater. He went on to coach high school football and baseball at Southeastern Regional Vocational High School. Joe was involved in Cub Scouts troop 27 in East Bridgewater. He was also a fan of the Detroit Lions and the New York Yankees. Joe and Helen frequently went camping at Scusset Beach faithfully every year. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and being outside working in his yard.
Besides his wife Helen, he is survived by his sons Joseph Fabian Thompson and his wife Nadia of East Bridgewater, Michael R. Thompson and his wife MaryEllen of Middleboro, and the late Christopher Patrick Thompson. He was the cherished grandfather of Melanie L. Thompson, Michael J. Thompson, Mitchell J. and his wife Molly of Cumberland, Rhode Island, along with their daughter Charlie Thompson (Great Granddaughter), and Mia M. Thompson. He also leaves his dog Bentley.
