Joseph M. Joe” MacMillan of Plymouth, passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on July 26, 2022 at the age of fifty-three after a brief cancer diagnosis. Joe was born on October 29, 1968 in Boston to James Macmillan, Sr. and Mary (Hourihan) Callahan. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator and recently worked for IUOE Local 4. He could be described as adventurous and an outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dirt bike riding and motorcycles but above all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Joe is survived by his parents, James MacMillan, Sr. and Mary Callahan; his children Zachary and Kaitlynn MacMillan of Carver; his former wife and mother of his children, Jennifer (Pernaw) MacMillan of Carver; his brother, James MacMillan, Jr. and sister, Kimberly Sotnick and her husband Erik of Florida. He leaves his “Brother from Another Mother”, Steven Fernandes and his wife Aimee. He also leaves his nieces and nephews, Christopher and Brett Pernaw, Bryce and Rylie Evans, Brady and Kylie Sotnick and Aeria and Mackenzie Fernandes.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 4, 2022, 12:00 pm at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Road, Plymouth (Manomet). A Celebration of Life will be held later in the day at 6:00 pm at the Garibaldi Club, 36 Castle Street, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
