Joseph W. Laura, known as "Joe" or "Joey" to all that knew him, age 37, of Kingston, MA, formerly of New York City and Salisbury, MD, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 3rd, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a courageous, hard-fought battle.
He was the loving son of Kathleen E. (Rohdin) Laura, and the late Joseph A. Laura and his wife Susan. Loving brother to Anthony Laura and his wife Luisa of Salisbury, MD; Kristi (Laura) Metrano and her husband Nick, of Carver; and Michael Laura of Kingston; Stepbrother to Kelly (Messick) Wright and her husband Jeffrey of Delmar, DE; Dennis "Ryan" Messick and his wife Orlett of Salisbury, MD; and the late Rachel Messick. Born on September 27, 1985, in West Islip, NY, Joe grew up in Salisbury, MD, and was a class of 2003 graduate of Parkside High School. There, Joe enjoyed singing in the concert choir, starring in school plays, playing soccer, and driving his Honda Accord. He was very popular and remembered for being kind to everyone. He moved a few times, first to New York City where he resided for 15 years, and then to Carver and Kingston, MA in 2020. He was a top-notch waiter working in many fine establishments, most recently at Salt Raw Bar and Leena's Kitchen of Plymouth where he always made a huge impression to anyone who had the pleasure of encountering him. He loved to sing and loved karaoke. His go-to song was "Boot Scootin' Boogie" by Brooks and Dunn. 90's Country music was his favorite. He also loved to play video games, drive his Honda Civic, and make everyone around him laugh. His sense of humor was unmatched. He was a bright light in this world and his kind soul will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
