John (Jack) E. Shores of Plymouth, passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth on October 20, 2022 at the age of ninety-one. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Langdon) Shores; loving father of Marilyn Brodeur and her husband Maurice of Middleboro, Stephen Shores and his wife Patricia of Stoughton, Dennis Shores and his late husband Paul of Maine, Mark Shores of Plymouth, Eric Shores and his wife Jennifer of Wilbraham, and Elizabeth McRae and her husband Timothy of Rochester; grandfather of Sean, Jennifer, Brianna, Keara, Caitlin, Cameron, Sofia, Logan, and Giuliana; great grandfather of Anduin, Eowyn, and Mackenzie. He was the brother of the late Marlene Tirrell, Jean Mondville, and Audrey R. Batchelder.
Jack was born on May 28, 1931 in Weymouth to the late Harold and Audrey (Edmonds) Shores. He attended Weymouth public schools and graduated from Fitchburg State College with Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees in Education. Jack was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict and 18 years in the Naval Reserve, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was honorably discharged and received the Good Conduct, Korean Service, United Nations, and National Defense Medals. Jack was an Educator and School Administrator working for King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, Upper Cape Regional Technical High School in Bourne, and Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in Easton until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the VFW Post 1822, Knights of Columbus Council 1190, Naval Reserve and Fleet Reserve Associations. Jack was a longtime volunteer at Jordan Hospital, and a parishioner of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church.

A period of visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, 10:30 am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 126 South Meadow Road, Plymouth. The interment will follow the mass at Plymouth County Cemetery on South Meadow Road, Plymouth.
