John Richard O'Neil, of Plymouth, age 81, passed away on August 7, 2014 at The Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. Devoted husband of Joan (Rall) O'Neil of 54 years. Beloved father of Kevin, the late Brian and his wife Susan, Michael and his wife Laurelle, Timothy and his wife Keri, Terence and his wife Jenny, and Gary. Cherished grandfather of Erin, Katie, Shaun, Tyler, Kyleigh, Olivia, and Amie.
Born in New York, he was the son of the late James and Florence (Craft) O'Neil of Woodmere NY. John is also survived by his brother James and Family of Dorset VT. John was a graduate of Cheshire Academy, Columbia University, and later went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. After being employed by JC Penny in New York. In 1968, John moved to Plymouth where he worked for Ocean Spray until his retirement. John was active in Plymouth Little League, including serving as President. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Seaside Club
A Visitation will be held at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St. Plymouth, on Monday, August 11th from 4:00 till 7:00 pm. A Mass will be held the following day at St. Peter's Church in Plymouth at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to St. Peter's Parish, 86 Court St. Plymouth MA 02360, or to a charity of your choice.
