John "Jack" Francis Kinsherf, Jr. of Halifax, passed away unexpectedly while visiting family and friends in North Fort Myers, Florida on May 17, 2023, at the age of seventy-eight.
He is survived by Diane (Fernandez) Kinsherf of Plymouth; his children, Virginia Rich and her husband Dave of Naples, Florida, Terry Lively and Derrick McLean of Centerville, Jack Kinsherf, III and his wife Nordine of Wareham; grandchildren, Jessica and Ashley Rich of Naples, Florida, Robert Lively, III and his wife Caitlyn of Attleboro, Jacob Kinsherf of New Hampshire, and Kaila Kinsherf of Plymouth; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Lively and Francis Kinsherf as well as many nieces and nephews. Jack was the brother of Rita Finch and her husband Frank of Wareham and the late Joan Richardi, and Frank "Bud" Kinsherf.
Jack was born on August 1, 1944, in Boston to the late John Francis and Dorothea (Hallinan) Kinsherf, Sr. He was a Regulatory Compliance Officer for Stop & Shop.
Jack was extremely proud of his 30 years of service to our Country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps holding the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant ("Master Guns"). He served as Maintenance Chief, Marine Light Helicopter Squadron 771 (HML-771) at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station. In addition, Jack was ordered to temporary active duty in 1991, stationed in Okinawa, Japan in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Jack was honored with being awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Subsequent to his 1992 retirement from the Marine Corps, he continued his dedication by serving as a member of the Top Three Military organization. Jack was also very active with Toys for Tots playing a vital role in the collection of toys and fundraising for many years.
A period of visitation will take place on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 272 Main Street, Kingston. Intement will follow the Mass at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High Street, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marine Toys for Tots - Greater Boston, 1st Battalion 25th Marines, 53 Quebec Street, Fort Devens, MA 01432
