Obituaries
Jean M. Callahan, age 79 years, of Manomet, formerly of Medford, passed peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Anthony J. Callahan, and the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Margaret (Bender) Buckley. Born on March 21, 1943 in Somerville, she raised her family in Medford. She and her husband Anthony moved to their summer home in Manomet during their retirement. She worked as an executive assistant for many years at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Jean was the oldest of five children. She found her peace at the beach admiring the ocean, or spending endless hours, passionately gardening in her earthly heaven. Most important to her, was the special time she spent enjoying her grandchildren, her family and her faith. She was generous with her kindness, love and patience.
Besides her loving husband Anthony, Jean is survived by her children, Joseph Callahan and his wife Wendy of Boxford, Mary Brennan and her husband Stephen of Medford, and Christine Vienneau and her husband David of Medford, grandchildren, Nolan, William, Joseph, Catherine, Thomas, Jordan, Cole, Allison, Christopher and Julia. She was the sister of Bernice Buckley of Wakefield, Joseph Buckley and his wife Jeanne of Wakefield, Robert Buckley and his wife Helen of Plymouth, and the late Margaret “Margie” Arsenault. In addition, Jean is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of St. Bonaventure’s Parish.
Her funeral will be held from the CARTMELL-DAVIS LIFE CELEBRATION FUNERAL HOME, 619 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet) on Monday at 9:00AM, followed by a funeral mass at St. Bonaventure’s Church, 803 State Rd., Plymouth at 10AM. Visitation with the Callahan family will be on Sunday from 4:00PM – 7:00PM.
