James Leo Pierson

James Leo Pierson (87) died peacefully at the Golden Living Center in Plymouth, MA on January 6, 2011. The oldest son of Pearl and Raymond Pierson, he was born on November 23, 1923 in Grafton, West Virginia. For many years Jim owned and operated a plumbing and heating business in Plymouth having learned the trade while outfitting ships during World War II. He also owned and operated a private water supply company; a propane bottled gas company; and a fish market at Manomet Point. As an involved citizen of the community, Jim was at various times a member of the Manomet Businessmen?s Association; the Manomet Village Club; an elected constable; a Sewer Commissioner; and a member of the Redevelopment Authority -all for the Town of Plymouth. He was also active in the local Boy Scouts and the 2nd Church of Plymouth. Once an avid boater, water skier, and downhill skier, in his retired years he and his wife enjoyed many winters in Fort Myers Beach, FL where they had many great times and made many friends. Jim was predeceased by his brother Paul H. Pierson and a son Thomas M. Pierson. He is survived by a brother, Dr. George R. Pierson of Portsmouth, OH and Jim?s devoted wife of 65 years, Jeanette (DeLancey) Pierson as well as a son, Jonathan ?Jack? Pierson of New York , NY; a son, Paul ?Teddy? Pierson and his wife Karen of Tucson, AZ; a son, James Pierson and his wife Jeannette of Plymouth, MA; four grand children: Dr. James D. Pierson, Jennifer (Pierson) Smith, Paul Pierson, Jeanna Pierson; three great grand children; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation will be at Vine Hills Crematory. A memorial service will take place on Saturday January 15, at the 2nd Church of Plymouth in Manomet at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the 2nd Church of Plymouth (General Fund) or the Jordan Hospital.
