Obituaries
James L. Sullivan, Sr., age 85, of Plymouth, formerly of Hingham, passed away on Tuesday, March 21st, at the Newfield House in Plymouth. He was the devoted husband of Maureen E. (O'Keefe) Sullivan. Loving father of James L. Sullivan, Jr. and his wife Pam of North Andover and Maura Sullivan of Quincy. Grandfather of Ryan, Austin, Delaney, Sean, Timothy, and Elizabeth Sullivan. He was the brother of Judith McEnaney, John Sullivan, Joanne, and William Milliken. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Lynn MA on October 3, 1937, son of the late James A. Sullivan and Arlene (Woodward) Rowney, Jim grew up in Lynn later graduating from the University of Rhode Island. He went on to a successful career working for ManuLife Financial in Boston for over 30 years. First in their life insurance practice and then leading their 401K investment business for the East Coast. He met Maureen in 1965 and they were married in 1966. The two of them raised their children in Hingham. Later moving to Plymouth in 2001 following retirement. He was a member of the Quincy Elks Lodge, as well as the Theta Chi fraternity at URI. An accomplished chef, Jim enjoyed cooking for friends and family. An avid reader, he enjoyed reading history, biographies and suspense novels.
A visitation will be held at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral home, 619 State Rd. Plymouth (Manomet), on Monday, March 27th, from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm. A Mass will take place the following day at St. Bonaventure's Church, Plymouth (Manomet), at 10:00 am. Donations in James's memory may be made to the ARC of Massachusetts, 217 South St. Waltham MA 02453.
