James Edward Lydon of Plymouth passed away at Colony Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Abington on May 25, 2023, at the age of eighty-four. He was the beloved husband of the late Jane (Spinney) Lydon; the loving father of James Lydon, Jr. and his wife Gayle of Raynham, Nancy Spano-Drake and her husband Michael of Carver, Janemarie "Janea" Boudreau and her husband Bill of Northfield, and Michael Lydon and his wife Lisa of Abington; he leaves eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late John, William, Peter Lydon, and Mary (Lydon) Doyle.
James was born in Boston on March 13, 1939, to the late Peter and Mary (Costello) Lydon. He grew up in South Boston and graduated from Gate of Heaven High School. James began his trade as a shipyard welder until becoming a member of Plumbers & Gasfitters Local 12 Boston as a welder. His hard work and training led him to become a master plumber and ultimately the Business Agent for Local 12. He was also the welding instructor for the Apprenticeship Program at Local 12.
James and his wife, Jane eventually settled in Rockland to raise their children. During this time, he coached Little League Baseball, a position he loved. Even after his children were out of the program, James continued to volunteer his time with the youth of his community. James was a devoted family man, his wife, and children were most important to him. He never missed a game or an activity that his children were involved in.
James was a Brooklyn Dodgers and Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed the Kentucky Derby each year and watching old movies.
