James M. Donovan, Jr. of Plymouth, passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 21, 2021 at the age of eighty-six. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Aimone) Donovan; loving father of Mary Thompson and her husband Ken of Plymouth, Karen Mongello and her husband Anthony of Plymouth, and Ellen Ainley and her husband Douglas of Rehoboth; cherished grandfather of Maggie, Sadie and Ryan Thompson, Jim Mongello and his wife Jessica, Emily Mongello and her partner Nick Bennett, and Katie and Allison Ainley; great grandfather of Myla Halunen and Joey Mongello. He was the brother of the late Robert Donovan.
Jim was born on March 20, 1935 in Willimantic, CT to the late James and Alice (Maloney) Donovan, Sr. He graduated from Providence College in 1956. Jim loved the Friars, the New York Yankees, and most of all his family.
A period of visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Cartmell Life Celebration Funeral Home, 150 Court Street, Plymouth. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10:30 am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 86 Court Street, Plymouth.
