Holly Hunt Murphy
December 20, 1939 - January 28, 2016
Holly (Hunt) Murphy passed away peacefully at home on the evening of January 28 surrounded by family, and her faithful companion Prancer. She was 76 years young. Holly was born in Plymouth, Ma and leaves behind her daughters Kathleen Murphy, of Plympton and Maureen Mosher of Taunton, her beloved grandchildren David William Balch III and his wife Tarryn of Plympton, Jeremy Balch of Whitman, and Tyler, Courtney and Caitlin Mosher of Taunton. She is predeceased in death by her parents Walter "Pee Wee" and Ruth (McCarty) Hunt and her brother Lawrence R. Hunt all of Kingston. Holly loved the written word, music, animals and most of all children. Holly graduated from Green Mountain College and Western Michigan. She was the owner/director of The Plympton Day Preschool for over 30 years. She was proud to be a former member of the Library Association and was an active member of the Plympton community in her younger years. She led an adventurous life, lived in California, Ohio and Michigan. She traveled on two cross country trips by car and traveled with the Little Gaelic Singers from Ireland during a U.S. tour. She enjoyed watching Downton Abby, Game of Thrones, CBS Sunday Morning and Mob Wives. She loved poetry and saw the world through a child's eyes. Eccentric to the end she planned a private memorial on her terms including a menu of mostly chocolate and readings of classic literature in the spring. In lieu of flowers Holly asked for donations in her honor to the following charities: "NO KILL" animal shelters, Pet Pantry at Coyle Cassidy High School 2 Hamilton St, Taunton 02780 c/o Jessica Stone., Arbor Day Foundation and the Plympton Public Library.
