Harold Joseph “Harry” Volta, 80, of Plymouth, MA passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth after a lengthy battle with Lung Cancer. He was the devoted husband of Cheryle (Malone) Volta.
Born in Plymouth, MA on September 23, 1942, Harold was the son of the late Harold S. and Lucia (Valenciano) Volta. He was educated in Plymouth and was a graduate of Plymouth High School.
Harold was the owner of the South Meadow Citgo Station as well as Volta Transportation. He was a good-hearted man with a vivacious sense of humor. Harold had many hobbies; he was a “foodie” for sure and enjoyed cooking every chance he got! He was part of the 5 Food Critters: a group of buddies that would get together monthly to try out different restaurants. He without a doubt was well known for his garlic salt. He was also an avid animal lover. He especially took interest in his “cats” …of which there were many.
Harold was a country music lover and enjoyed dancing. The ladies would line up hoping Harold would save a dance for them at the line dances! Harold was a “people person” and enjoyed interacting with folks from every walk of life. He will be truly missed by all of those lucky enough to have made his acquaintance.
Besides leaving his wife of 50 years, Cheryle, he was the loving father of Gary and his wife Garnet of Biddeford, ME, Janine and her partner Rick of Plymouth, Jodie and her husband Stan of Plymouth, and Cheri and her partner Andy of Old Town, ME. He was the grandfather of Jason, Joshua, Kyle, Steven, Kristina and Mackenzie and great-grandfather of Jayden and Jenevieve. He also leaves his sister Carolyn Govoni of Duxbury, and niece Katie Santos and her husband Cleber as well as his nephew Brian Govoni.
Visiting hours will take place on Tuesday, November 1st, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St., Plymouth followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Donations in Harry’s name may be made to the “Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals” at www.helpinghandsforpas.org
