George Edward Hanlon

Hanlon, of Carver, George Edward, age 84, died June 12, 2005 at New England Saini Hospital in Stoughton. He was devoted husband of Anne M. (Maier) Hanlon of Carver and loving father of Peter E. Hanlon of Plymouth and Brian Hanlon of Hull. He was beloved brother of Kathleen Fulton of Sandwich, MA and pre-deceased by 5 siblings. He was cherished grand-father of Traci Baker and Erica Doherty. The funeral will take place on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St. Plymouth. Friends may call at the Cartmell Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. He was educated in Boston and was a graduate of Roslindale High School. Mr. Hanlon had entered the U.S.Coast Guard following his high School graduation and served as Motor Machinist’s Mate 2C. He then went on to work for the United Sataes Postal Service as a Postal Clerk until his retirement. He later worked as a newspaper reporter for the Brockton Enterprise Newspaper as well as the Old Colony Memorial for many years. He was the published author of the book ''A Cloak For Malice'', of which he was very proud. His hobbies included his great love of music. He enjoyed playing the trumpet as well as golfing in his spare time. Mr. Hanlon moved to Carver in 1984 from Plymouth.
