George R. Alves, 88, a lifelong Plymouthean, passed away peacefully on February 20 with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Hazel N. (Liley) Alves for 68 years and was the loving father of his daughters Linda Carter and Carol Alves and his son-in-law Larry Carter, all of Plymouth. He was the loving grandfather of Kevin Carter and Caroline Locke of Dedham and Marcy Carter - Lutz and Brad Lutz, of Philadelphia. Born in Plymouth April 12, 1927 a son of the late Pedro and Maria (Correa) Alves and was one of nine siblings. He is survived by his brother Joseph Alves and sister Elsie Pacific. Predeceased by his brothers Manuel, Alfred, Gilbert, Peter and sisters Lilly and Gerty. Also survived by his loving caregivers, Amy, Nancy and Kathleen. George served with the US Navy during WWII and was retired from the Town of Plymouth. He was the oldest member of the Young America Club and the Seaside Club of Plymouth. He was most happy when caring for his wife, Hazel, and missed her terribly upon her death. Visiting hours in Davis Funeral Home 373 Court St. North Plymouth on Wednesday February 24th from 11 till 1 pm. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday February 27th at 11:00 am in the Davis Funeral Home followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Plymouth.
