Obituaries
Everett “Jim” J. Mason, Jr., age 76, of Plymouth, passed away on Tuesday, August 16th, at his home in Plymouth. He was the devoted husband of 57 years to Gail E. (Armstrong) Mason. Loving father of Stephanie Gray and her husband Monty of Plymouth, Elizabeth Tibbetts and her husband Bob of Plymouth, and Marylew Closson and her husband Shawn of Middleboro. Jim was the brother of Regina LeClaire of Milan NH, and Lewis Mason of Plymouth, and the late Bruce Mason of FL. Grandfather of Cody Tibbetts, Kayla Tibbetts, Victoria Gray, Monty Gray, Carolyn Lis, and David M. Lis, as well as great grandfather of Hailey Tibbetts.
Jim was born in Whitefield NH on December 5, 1945, son of the late Everett J. and Lelianne (St. Hillaire) Mason. Following graduation from Berlin High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Even though Jim had never been on a boat before, having grown up in the mountains, he served aboard the Air Craft Carriers Essex and Saratoga. After his service, he attended Bridgewater State University. Jim was the ultimate family man and did everything he could to provide for them. He had numerous occupations such as a quality control inspector for the Nuclear Division of Stone and Webster, a foreman with BIW, working with AC and refrigeration, and finally as an associate with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Jim loved everything Disney. He and the family would typically travel there twice a year. He was also a member of the men’s bowling league at Alley Cat Lanes in Kingston.
A visitation will be held at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court St. (North) Plymouth, on Friday, August 19th, from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm. A service will take place in the funeral home the following day at 10:30 am. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Church of the Pilgrimage, 8 Town Square, Plymouth MA 02360, or to the Fragment Society, PO Box 6386, Plymouth MA 02362.
