Ernest was born in Quincy, the son of Ralph and Elsie (Barrington) Gillis. Ernest was a federal administrative judge for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the National Appeals Division. He was a member of the American Legion Post 387 in Kingston and served as a submariner in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Visiting hours will be held at the Cartmell Funeral Home at 150 Court Street, Plymouth on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church on Court Street in Plymouth on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in the Plymouth County Cemetery, South Meadow Road in Plymouth.
