Obituaries
Edward J. Hanrahan, Jr., age 81, of Plymouth, formerly of South Boston, died Thursday January 3, 2013 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. He was the loving brother of William Hanrahan of South Boston, and the late Margaret Slathe of Quincy. He is also survived by one niece, Elaine Joyce, and two grand nephews, Brian and David Joyce. Born November 14, 1931 in Boston, son of the late Edward J. Sr. and Grace (Daley) Hanrahan. Edward attended the Boston Public School Systems and graduated from the Boston English High School in 1950. He attended service schools and Bentley College before he enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 as a combat medic, where he served in the areas of Kumwha and Chorwon Korea. He was part of the outpost Tom, Dick, and Harry. Edward attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and joined the Army Reserves. Edward served a total of 6 years for the Army and the Active Army Reserves. Afterwards, he worked for Boston Edison as a senior supervisor for 34 years before retiring. Edward would like to thank the wonderful Kang family for their friendship, love, and help throughout the years. He would also like to express gratitude to Don Chase, and Rhonda and Bob Gloodt for their loving friendship. Edward also leaves two dear friends Zenna Mihoran and Kerry Green. A visitation will be held at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St. Plymouth, on Monday January 7th from 4:00 till 7:00 pm. Funeral from the Cartmell Funeral Home at 9:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bonaventures Church in Manomet at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 11:30 am.
