Doris May Rowell
January 20, 1921 - January 4, 2018
Doris May (Sturgis) Rowell, age 96, died on Thursday, January 4th, 2018 at her home in Plymouth. She was the devoted wife of the late Everett O. Rowell, Jr. Born in Quincy, MA on January 20, 1921, she was daughter of the late Lester B. and Verna M. (Bent) Sturgis. She was educated in Quincy, a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1938. Doris worked for the Plymouth Home National Bank as a bank Teller for over 20 years, retiring in 1974. She and her husband Everett moved to P.E.I, Canada where they lived for over 21 years. She then moved back to Manomet (Plymouth) in 1996. Doris was active in the Second Congregational Church of Plymouth at Manomet since 1957. She was a 50 plus year member of the Plymouth Chapter ( #163) of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Regent Chapter O.E. S. in P.E.I., Canada. Doris was talented in working on crafts, as well as knitting, crocheting, and working on embroidery. She was generous in sharing her gifts with family and friends. She held Bible Study at her home every Friday morning. She especially enjoyed going out to lunch several days a week with her daughter Joan, family and friends right up until her passing. Doris was the loving mother of Joan F. Roulias and her husband George of Plymouth and the late Nancy M. Pierce. She was the cherished grandmother of David Pierce and his wife Carol of Sidney, ME, Dennis W. Pierce and his wife Karen of Roxbury, ME, Andrew P. Pierce of Farmington, ME, Nancy May (Pierce) Barr and her husband Robert of Wildwood, FL, Sarah (Pierce) Merrill and her husband Lee of Peru, ME and Lydia (Pierce) Mclain of Dixfield,ME. She was beloved great-grandmother of Timothy, Kristina, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Alyssa, Amanda, Thomas, Hunter, Taylor & Cheyanne. She also leaves 7 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Jan.10th, 2018 at the Davis Funeral & Cremation Home, 619 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will take place on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Second Church of Plymouth at Manomet.
