Obituaries
Carol Cantoni Pettersen, age 66, of Plymouth MA, passed away on Wednesday, August 20th after a seven year courageous journey with breast cancer. She died peacefully and comfortably with her family at home.
Wife of Bruce V. Pettersen for 43 loving years and sister of James H. Cantoni and his wife Lindsay S. Cantoni of Sun Lakes, AZ. Born in Charleroi PA, she was the daughter of the late Henry F. and Isabel H. Cantoni. Besides her husband Bruce, she leaves her daughter Heather A. Strofs and her husband Jamison of Los Angeles, CA; her son Derek S. Pettersen and partner Chonna C. Cristelle, also of Laguna Hills, CA; and two grandsons, Greyson M. and Nico S. Strofs, the joys of her life.
Carol cherished her friendships, and those that knew her were enriched by her compassion and her generous spirit. She saw beauty in every day and flowers nourished her soul. She partnered for 32 years with her husband in their dental practice at Holly Tree Dental in Hanover, MA. She was a proud volunteer for Cranberry Hospice for 10 years and gratefully gave of herself through Hospice and several cancer support groups.
In passing, Carol taught us a lot about life: her courage, grace, dignity and unselfish love will be lasting memories for all who knew her.
A wake will be held on Monday, August 25 from 5-8pm at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court Street, Plymouth, MA 02360. A private Celebration of Life service will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Susan F. Smith Center for Women's Cancer at Dana Farber, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215; or Cranberry Hospice, Inc. 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360; or Norwell Cancer Support Community, 120 Longwater Drive Suite 104, Norwell, MA 02061.
